[20:39:43] KQ6XA BONNIE: HAITI UPDATE: Land-based comms in the part of Haiti near the earthquake disaster zone are still down or having problems. Other parts of the island have some cell mobile phone service. Lines to and from the island are overloaded or having problems. Many electric power lines are down. There is only one report of contact with a Haiti ham operator using battery power on 20m voice SSB.
[20:41:21] KQ6XA BONNIE: does anyone here need help with ALE set up, or information?
[20:41:59] KQ6XA BONNIE: is anyone here now preparing to go to the disaster area in Haiti?

[20:44:51] KQ6XA BONNIE: DK0ESD, the most likely situation for comms will be for those with a relief agency or other organization that is now preparing to go to Haiti.
[20:46:42] DK0ESD: I am not orhanzed in of those, since I am having my regular duties. I just can coperate and could offer some equipment, as well as my personal skills for the time of engagement

[20:50:03] DK0ESD: I also gave some notifications to the emcomm-department of the DARC, but I scare it is hard for them to organize something

[20:52:23] KQ6XA BONNIE: I received info from Red Cross comm manager that they are in the process of organizing aid response, starting last night. you can see some of the American Red Cross Stations callsigns of their base stations now in the Network Activity Log.
[20:54:14] KJ4AYT: Bonnie, where is the network activity log and do I need a password to get in there? Also, guten abnen herr Thorsten.
[20:54:59] KQ6XA BONNIE: American Red Cross has ALE radios at base stations and mobiles. Some of them are active now on this network. We have not seen traffic yet out of Haiti. It may take some time to get relief personnel into the field at the disaster zone in Haiti.
